comment: I just would like to make a musical comment about Marcel Khalife.
I Have a BM in composition from San Francisco State University. I heard Marcel When he came and did a concert here. I also got a hold of a host of his albums. I generally admire his work and his seriousness about it which is a refreshing change compared to a lot of the other (let's just say not so serious) I felt that Marcel was pretty much a popular singer with a message, but as far as his compositions are concerned, I felt the need for more variety. Especially in the rhythm. Everything that he writes is in 4/4. There are a lot more rhythms in Arabic music than the few I heard him use.
Also i find it ironic that someone who speaks for the need of culture and education in his songs, is constantly using western instruments. nothing wrong with that but what about using other cultural instruments beside western. I mean they already brain wash us enough without it being emphasized again by our own. I would like to here more recent releases of yours Maybe I will get some more soon.
