i do not know what to say other than that i'am a huge fan ... i haven't been listening to your music for a long time but as soon as i did i fell in love ... in simple words you are a true artist.
i just hope that i'll afford one day to attend one of your concerts or that you would consider to come and perform in Egypt ... that became an objective and a dream for me ...
i only have 2 of your records so far but i know for a fact that every time i can find your records i will not think twice before buying them.
do not know what else to say other that telling you that your music inspires me
so thank you

Ali
I'll Let Him Set My Spirit Free
I know that God has kissed my soul
And set my spirit free;
I know He's summoned me to Him
And released me to receive.
To walk amidst the angels
And all He calls His own;
To enter gates of glory
And the realm of heaven's throne.
To boldly step into a place
That far exceeds the natural eye;
Into the dominion of His Kingdom
Where He rules and reigns on high!
You see, it's ALL within my reach
Because His Spirit lives within;
He opens doors of fellowship
And sweet relationship with Him.
He draws and woos me gently
He bids me ~ to seek His face;
He offers me His Kingdom
In exchange for love's embrace.
And all that I must do
Is follow where He leads;
To set my heart upon Him
And trust HIS plan for me.
For He will NEVER lead me
To a place He will not be;
So I will seek Him in His Kingdom
I'LL LET HIM SET MY SPIRIT FREE!

comments: Hi,
My name is Orly and I am from Israel. I just wanted to
let you know that I love Mr. Khalife's music very
much, although unfortunately, the little Arabic that I
know is not enough to understand most of his liric. We
saw him last year performing some of Mr. Darwish's
poems in the states, and loved it very much.
I deeply hope that the political situation in our area
will soon allow the performance of Mr. Khalife here,
in Jerusalem, so we can enjoy his music along with our
Palestinian friends.
All the best,
Orly.

Organizers: Stem Van Marokkaanse,
Democraten - Netherlands (Stem for Moroccan Democrats)
Place: Dr. Anton Philipszaal in The Hague
I'm Mona Hammoud a Lebanese woman living in the Netherlands since September 2002. I went to the concert it was outstanding. The performance of Marcel and his band was great. 1200 men and women listened carefully and anxiously to the music and songs. Omayma also sang a couple of songs.
The press here in the Netherlands posted parts of the concert on the news because of the war on Iraq. The purpose of the concert was to show the arabic opinion about war in Iraq.

comments: Dear Marcel,
Like many I have enjoyed your party in Den Haag few days ago...
With all my respect and admiration for your stand and your art, I like to send you the following comments.
Since I don't know you, and I know that you are making big success, there is big chance I am afraid that you will not like my comments. Any way, I feel I have to say it, and leave the ball in your field.
1- With all my pleasure for your commitment to the original words of the great poets that you sing for, and the commitment to sing only words with a meaning you respect, I still have to say, I feel that this inclination is a bit exagurated! I myself have tried once wirting lyrics some time ago, and with a friend tried to make them into "songs", so I am probably too sensitive to this relation between the words and the music. (My friend is the one who asked you to take a foto with him on the stairs after the theatre play of M. Bakri, and I took the picture)
Ok..I feel that the words dominate in a dictator way. That there was no effort made to make them suite music..to make the "poems" into "lyrics"..You keep the words however hard they are, and let the music suffer to follow them. Even if a piece of poetry was great and perfect, it is not always perfect as a lyric. It has nothing to do with the quality of the poet. The peot writes a poem, knowing that the words have the whole theater, while in a lyric, the words and music should respect each other, not only in expression, (which you do very good) but also in form..A great solo dancer should adapt his style when he/she dances with a partner.
I have kept an example in memory to tell you...in the very nice song "Ummy", there comes the word "Al asafeer" in a very hard position. Would you consider trying "Al Tuyoor" in place?
2- The party begun with a (very beautiful) heavy instrumental. I felt, and probably others, that while one is not yet sitting good in his chair, he needs a warm up with some easier start..some start which he/she knows, and doesn't need much concentration, and not long. After a while, there will be time for such pieces.
I hope you take my critcism with good spirit, and wish you all success
Saieb Khalil

No matter how hard things are in my country and in the other arab countries when I listen to your music it seems to shine with a bit of hope for peace.
