Comments: from the early beginning of marcel there was the trend for orchestral work, and the ambition of pure music ,i love to hear marcel music in chamber version or oud concherto connected with the folk and traditonal music , i dont know how much we can reach harmony with our arabic identity .. probably more research should be done on certin maqams like rast and hijaz and liberate the shape to different atomsphere , i feel that russian experience on national music may help... try to bring the music to people chopin is an example and the gypsy nature of list rahpsody is also interesting . our music is closed circut . i wish marcel as a talented musician can contribute enormously...

Subject: Loving arabic music...my "Moorish" soul.
Comments: Hello mister Marcel, it would be wonderfull if you could read my e-mail. It has been a passion of mine to "absorb" the wonderfull sounds and rythms and soul of the Arab world, which I'm proud to claim a descendence, through my moorish culture of southern Portugal, the old Al-andaluz.
I'm from the Algarve region where the souls of the old moors still sing the "Fado", among so many other traditions that where left by our cousins. I'm so happy to go and watch you in person this coming sunday in Boston at the "Berkley performance center" where I have a dear friend who graduated from there a "Cape Verdian" composer.
I would love to get an e-mail from you it would be an honor. And let's pray for the health of mister Arafat, that all goes well for him and at this time of Ramadan specially that God have mercy on all of us. Sincerely,
Nela Neto

Comments: Your universalist approach to music and sound and your sense of humanity, compassion and unity
are a necessary artistic and human expression particulary in these days when justice, truth, and human compassion are so lacking in world leaders and all governments. Your choice of songs
awakens the conscience of your listeners.
We truly enjoyed your concert and we also are very curious to know which of your CD's has Umaima Khalil singing the song Uhibbuka Akthar, which we heard her sing tonight.
It was very heartwarming to see your sons, as musicians in their own right, accompanying their father...you must be very proud.
Looking forward to hearing and seeing more of your musical evolutions in the years to come.

Comments: It is thrilling to have Marcel Kahlife honor our community and our university (the University of Michigan) with his visit and with his performance. It will be my first live concert exposure to Arab music. Based on all that I have read about Mr. Kahlife's compositions, as well as about his artistic mission and his philanthropy, I know the evening will be magical and memorable for life. I hope my 13 year old son is captivated by the music and also appreciates how very special it is to see and hear Mr. Kahlife and his ensemble perform.

Subject: Marcel Oldies
Comments: During wartime Lebanon, Marcel's music and songs (banned at the time in east Beirut) always found a way to make it through. I reluctantly listened to Sawt elJabal and Sawt el Watan only because a song for Marcel might pass on. I had anyone who went to west beirut bring me back Marcel cassettes' with him.
Now i miss those songs and that music..not that i dont like his recent ones, on the contrary.. but just because his oldies is another bridge to the Lebanon we used to know..
so please, if there is a way to put that music (toot toot and sheel eldabshi ya salah and....) on CD's or get the cassettes to be on sale on the internet, that would be great..
Thanks,

Subject: To the most creative Arab composer
Comments: Marcel Khalife .. this genius composer which my simple personality is not capable enough to evaluate this great person but i really rank him (hope you read this mr marcel) in the same position of world revolutionist composers just like Igor stravinsky/ Rimsky korsakov / Claude Debussy and many others..He has proven that the arabic music can be employed to encourge ethics and patriotism. i wish i can type in arabic i would be more expressive however i wouldn't really fullfill what really marcel does deserve. the most amazing thing that Marcel is an arab!.. i'm so much proud that we have sucha creative professional musician a man of principles and ethics. i'm so much amazed by the mixture of the harmony that he come up with .. so much tight compact music clauses , very puposful lyrics.. the most thing that i can't stop hearing again and again was JADAL Quartrain.. these pieces of arabic harmonic musical wonders. Marcel i did attend one concert you made in syria but !

Merci,
Samir

Comments: Hello i'm really not qualified to write anything cos i think what marcel got is sort of a gift from god, i never knew him or listen to him except after i knew this special friend who does, so i thought i'll try to listen to him to understand this friend more and suddenly i became Marcel's addic. lol, but for me personaly i don't even give my self the right to talk about him cos i believe he's way above what i'm gonna say but i will say one important thing is that when i hear him "i hear, listen and feel his words" and i think the word that can describe him is he has a this special taste and high class.. love u & i regret it that i never tried to listen to u earlier, god bless u.
