comment: I believe none of my co-Muslim brothers hold any higher true and genuine regards and respect for Islam as Marcil Khalifa. Furthermore, no other artist, Muslim or otherwise, has echoed the sufferings of Muslims, particularly those of Palestinians and Lebanese, so delicately and selfishlessly as Mr. Khalifa. It is shocking to hear a country, such as Lebanon the "bride of culture and civilization" as President Khatami of Iran put it recently, would bring such a ludicrous charge against an artist who should be awarded for his contribution to culture and humanity. He is not insulting Islam, he is promoting it. He is the voice of those mainly suffering Muslims.

comment: From what I've been told so far about Marcel Khalife's witchhunt by the Muslim clergy is that he sang a song, using Mahmoud Darweesh's writings. The words of that song are supposedly a verse from the Koran which talks about the treachery of Joseph's brothers- a myth manufactured by the ancient Israelite priests when they manufactured the Jewish Bible in the 5th Century B.C. and then somehow retold in the Koran, in almost identical text.
My comments (actually questions):
1) Why not put Mahmoud Darweesh on trial for writing the same
2) If the story originated in the Jewish Bible, how does it offend Muslims?
3) What is wrong with using the analogy to describe what the so many 'Arab nations' have done to Palestine and Lebanon. I believe Marcel Khalife should be given a reward, not be witchhunted and prosecuted, for using this appropriate analogy. Stop the terror based on ignorant dogma! Stop the witchhunt against Mr. Khalife!

and I know that he is one of the most patriotic

I do not agree that his song debases Islam,
therefore I urge the lebanese government to drop
all charges brought against this wonderful
musician and composer.

The appropriate authorities must be indicted for sheer stupidity, willful disregard for self-evident inalienable rights, and crimes against Lebanon.

comment: In 1984, I watched you in the field "Al-Safa'a", with thousands of other people, who came from all over Lebanon. I watched you living throughout the lebanese war as I lived close to you in Souk el-khudra. You're the typical " mounadel arabi ". I saw you singing for the men who defended Beirut in 1982.. and so on. Marcel, they're giving you more and more "shahadat" by this legal act. I'm a muslim, I didn't hear that song and I don't want to. I invite people to go to the street and peacefully play that song on that big day in December. We're all here for you. We're all Marcel khalifeh. God bless you and Mahmoud Darwish, and protect you from the "Daghina" of those liars. And like your song says: " ana ahmad el-arabi fal-yaetee al-hisar!.." This is only the start, we'll all be with you against this new kind of intellectual sanction. ali

comment: How long are we to remain ignorant & down right stupid as to allow false interpretation of religion, rule our logic & common sense. Wake up Lebanese officials, do not frighten your people in the name of blasphemy, you will open a Pandora box to create more trouble for your Country. Build your Nation instead of fragmenting it further in the name of religion. You certainly do not need another civil war.

Yousif is the symbol shows our loneliness in the time of the loma , and he remains to be so.
