Marcel has been a long time rafeeq of ours. we have loved his music and carried us during the dark times. we value his nationalistic and pan-arab songs which really electrify our journey towards prosperity and peace in the middle east. his songs pumped our blood during the war and made us believe in our cause. even during peacetime, hsi songs still touch you deep down. we will support you marcel. united we stand. united we suffer. united we die.

comment: Respect for all religions is a must. In many cases it is a very fine line to be disrespectful. Unfortunately this line is not the same for all people and that makes defining disgraceful in many cases to be intangible. In the case of Marseel Khalefe, I think that incriminating him by the laws of a country that considers being disrespectful of religions as a crime is not founded, simply because if he did not intend harm and defining his actions is disputable and hence intangible. He should be acquitted.

comment: The individuals behind the legal action against this artist ought to be scrutinized as to their motivations and where they stand on secetarianism. Lebanese government officials need to be picked from amongst individuals having respect for individual expression. (Neither the song, its verses nor its overall message are insulting to a sensitive Moslem. Perhaps the "political agenda" and intentions of the individuals shouting "blasphemy" should become in question - and their resignations from "officialdom" sought).

Any reasaonable person can't help but wonder where is our arabic world going to. What about all the rest of the singers that violated it?? did they get prosecuted????? For god's sake grow up arabs!! comment: Out of all the people I might ever have tried to imagine being attacked or brought to "justice," Marcel Khalifeh would be the last. This man has devoted his life to inspiring patriotism and solidarity among all Arabs. He deffinitely doesn't deserve this. But, I guess, as the Arabic saying goes: "hatha jaza'u Sinnimar!" (This is Sinnimar's punishment - for being an outstanding person). I hope Marcel realizes that he has many supporters and admireres. And I hope he continues to share his talent and inspire people of all generations.

comment: Marcel has been the one of the very few lights that shined in the darkness of the civil war in Lebanon. To accuse him and prosecute him for singing what is in his soul is a crime against all religions including Islam. As an American of Lebanese descent , I am embarrassed and ashamed that sauch a thing is taking place in the sacred land where I was born. Let marcel sing so freedom can gain another hero.

comment: Lebanon is about the freedom of speech. It is the responsibility of the civil society, the parliament and the government to guarrantee such inalienable rights, and to prevent Muslim and Christian fanatical leaders from sensoring every individual's freedom of speech and belief, even if that freedom includes the right to be an atheist.

comment: Marcel is an icon of nationalism in the Arab World. His songs have inspired those who have given their lives for the just causes of the people of Palestine and Lebanon for over two decades. This is not only an attack against liberty and freedom of expression but against all unifying and progressive forces in our region. Our battle is with the Israeli occupiers but instead someone deems it fit to distract our attention and efforts by directing their fervor againt Khalifa. What a shame!

comment: Everybody should have the right to express his/her opinion, beliefs, and views. We are approaching the 21st century, People...why still act like the Dark Ages? Plus, are we a free democratic country where freedom of speech is commended or what? Let's either act like one or else right ahead declare (and enlighten the people) that we are no better than 'Communists'! Thank You
