comments:Thank you for being you again. I heard that you will boycott the Womadelaide 2001 world music festival in Australia because there is an Isreali participation in that festival. I wished that our leaders had thought the way you did in the last century.
Thank you.

comments: It's been long since I've first heard your energetic, "Motasebal Qamatee Amshi", and I've heard most of your music and seen a good sum of your interviews. You're not a blindly driven emotion, but, and I confidently claim, that there is a catious, logical mind working round the clock.
Needless to say, that you are right. There is no place for debate, but there is plenty of justification due for those unaware of the "real" tragedy of elSham.
There is just the suggestion, that along with your refusal, I think it would a good idea for you to go there, aside the festival, and make your own concert. I do not know whether you're capable financially or you need sponsorship, but I believe that there are plenty of people willing to sponsor and support such a concert.
What would be extremely beneficial to the case, is to also sponsor an Arabic/English booklet with the concert, with the songs, lyrics (with translation), and a brief, or detailed, account of the elSham's tragedy. This would really ripple tsunamis on the surface.
I'm also unaware of how controlling are the Zions in Australia, but I'd say give it a try because I trust and know that you'll find support not just in Australia, but also worldwide. I'd give it all to be there for you and the case, and I trust many would. There are still many, thank Goodness, who'd give it all to be there for you, and the case.
At any rate, may He bless you for what you are and what you do. You're one of the those who makes it all worthwhile.

comments: To all those who feel that Marcel Khalife is cheating the Palestinians, or the Arab community, or the world for that matter, by not performing at the Womadelaide Festival in Australia, I say,

"Marcel Khalife has courageously carried the torch into many dark places;
he has brought life where death loomed;
he has brought hope where despair prevailed; and voice where silence weighed like a million chain;
he has brought the torch of creation, love, and the language of music that knows no borders;
he has brought the torch of truth to the hearts and minds of the Womadelaide Festival organizers;
he has brought them the truth of the horrors of occupation, oppression, state terrorism, exploitation, and sheer brutal inhumanity.
It is now our turn, each and every one of us to light our torch, and like him, carry on the journey of love, peace, creativity, and beauty, that he, so gracefully and steadfastly, has been walking."

I say, instead of attacking him and being angry at him for doing or not doing what we would like him to do or not do, why not acknowledge and honor all the gifts he has given the world (such appreciation for his art has indeed been expressed in all the letters in response to his withdrawal from the Womadelaide Festival) precisely by doing ourselves what we, in our own unique and different ways, believe needs to be done for us all to be love, peace, creativity, and beauty on earth! May Peace be within us all!
